More than seven years ago, we here at Sofionik were extremely proud to design and build the original version of Starline’s website. Although they were a small company at the time, we’ve been thrilled to watch their immense growth since that time, and we would like to think that our contributions played at least a small part in that success.
More recently however, the company realized that it was time to refresh their look and reinvent their online presence, so they once again turned to Sofionik to make it happen. And to be honest, it feels really, really good when past clients once again entrust us with their online presence.
The Seattle limo-for-hire market is one of the most competitive in the nation, even when compared to massive markets such as New York City and Los Angeles. Because of this, we knew that we needed to home in on Starline’s unique competitive advantage, and to use it for all it’s worth. And it just so happens that this advantage is the company’s online presence.
While cyberspace is rife with Seattle-area limo company websites, the reality is that most of them are poorly executed and display boring content, unattractive design, and faulty functionality. However, in their defense, good websites are expensive, and most small businesses (whether transportation-related or otherwise) simply don’t have the budget to cover it.
The Solution, Part I: Design
While great content and good design were certainly our two primary targets, we realized that everything needed to be focused on helping Starline’s users to achieve their goals. But what exactly are they?
As it turns out, more of Starline’s clients access the company’s site using a mobile device than a desktop PC. This is an ever-increasing trend among all internet users, and is something that shows no signs of slowing down any time in the near future. Because of this, we knew that whether Starline’s customers are searching for information, taking a look at rates, or trying to book a reservation; and regardless of how they were accessing it, we needed to make sure everything about their site was simple and intuitive.
As a result, we put a lot of careful thought into the process, and developed Starline’s website around responsive design. This means that, whether a customer is accessing the site from a mobile device or PC, their reservation process will be simple and fast. And most of all, it means that they now have the competitive advantage they need to succeed in an already tight market.
On top of this, the Starline website is also built around our proprietary CMS, which makes it easier than ever to run your own website once it’s been completed.
The Solution, Part II: SEO
Second only to personal referrals, SEO is the most important way for limo companies to obtain new clients. With this in mind, while the first part of our solution for Starline involved giving their clients an ideal online experience, the second part was to guide them to their website in the first place. And to do this, we needed to get them ranked on the first page of Google.
Over our many years in business, we’ve successfully optimized limousine websites before, and we can tell you this: The process is not easy, and is often very involved, lengthy, and expansive. Because of this, don’t believe anyone who promises to quickly place your website on the first page of Google, because they’ll take your money, and leave you with very little productive outcomes.
The truth is, there are hundreds of important factors involved in achieving and maintaining a high search engine ranking, and we’re constantly tweaking and optimizing Starline’s website to ensure long-term success.
While Starline’s design has come to an end, SEO remains a work in progress. For now we’re seeing small improvements in traffic, but we’ll be sure to add an update with the site’s overall performance and ranking at a later time.
